Why Your Business Needs A Website
Does your company have a website? If not, you may be missing out on a lot of business. Here is my take on why your company (and every company for that matter) should have their own website.
1. People are using the internet like they once used a phone book.
Remember picking up that heavy book full of numbers to find the business you were looking for? Usually, the companies were listed in alphabetical order, and you would just start at the top. Today, people aren’t looking at phone books. Most people that I know don’t even own a phonebook anymore. Instead, they are searching the internet to look for services or products in your field. Chances are that your competitors may already have a website and that is who they are finding first. Let’s not make it that easy for your competitors – get yourself a website.
2. It gives you another marketing channel for your company.
Why not add in another channel to your marketing channel? You are already spending your marketing budget on billboards and marketing collateral so why not spend where we know your target market already is. The web is a fairly inexpensive marketing channel that can reach your customers hands – quite literally. Most people are checking their phones and surfing the web many times a day. Furthermore, if you spend some time marketing your website correctly, you can have your products and services right in front of your customers (and potential customers) multiple times a day.
3. It gives your business instant credibility.
Let’s just pretend a potential customer gets a referral to your business from the cashier at the grocery store. They pack the groceries in the car and pull up their phone to Google your business for a consultation. The worst possible scenario happens – they can’t find you and move on to one of your competitors. If you have a website, they are more likely to find your business, a list of your products and services, and a good way to contact you. It gives them the instant credibility that you are ready for their business.
4. It gives you the opportunity to generate and capture leads.
One great thing about a website is that there are so many cool features available that can help you generate and capture leads. There are pop up forms that request an email address to receive special promotions; contact forms for a customer to request a quote on your services; the list goes on. This is extremely helpful for not only getting new customers but retaining existing customers for repeat business as well.
5. It’s like a business card.
Websites are becoming more and more like business cards every day. Not only can you put your contact information out there, but you can also showcase your products and services. From including staff photos to contact information to product images to service pricing, the sky is the limit with what information you can share on your website.
6. Having a website can save you time in answering questions and gathering information from clients.
Just as I said before, there is no limit to the amount of information that you can put online about your business. In fact, having a website may save you time (and money) by having this information out there. Think about how many emails and minutes on the phone you could save by simply having “Frequently Asked Questions” page on your website to answer those repetitive questions you keep getting.
7. Stay in control of your brand.
You may not be able to control what people are saying about your business on social media, but you can control what they are reading on your website. You have control on how you deliver the story behind your brand as well as how they view your company’s mission. Overall, I can find so many reasons to have a company website versus reasons to not have one. If you need helping setting up a website for your business, I highly recommend using a company that specializes in both web design and search engine optimization like this one.
